Prime Times |
Welcome to Captain Action Charters, home of Muskoka, Algonquin Park & Lake of Bays' Fishing Charter Headquarters.
Captain Mike Bertelsen's goal is to make
his client's day as successful as possible.
To do this he may recommend a different
lake that is more productive.
April-May - Always the best time to catch Lake trout, temperatures are ideal and the fish can be laying at the surface. We use light line and lures or flyfish for them.
May-June - Brook trout are busy in the streams, rivers and small lakes in and surrounding Algonquin Park.
This is the prime time to catch brook trout on dry flies and nymph patterns.
June - No doubt the hottest time for pike, temperature is ideal and the fish are very hungry after the spawn. Walleye are also aggressive at this time. Bass opens at the end of this month.
July-August - Bass fishing is in full swing, every summer Captain Mike's guests catch many bass in the 5 to 6 pound range. Walleye and Pike are still fair to good.
September-October - The very best Smallmouth bass fishing can be at this time. Lake Trout are sometimes caught while deep jigging for bass.
